WHAT
WE DO

Rock the Block Society creates accessible, community-first live music experiences — the kind that feel welcoming whether you’re a total beginner, a seasoned performer, or someone who usually skips events because they don’t feel “for you.”

PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.

Here are the core ways we make the magic happen — the foundational projects and programs that enable accessible community music events in public and partner spaces.

These efforts focus on reducing common barriers (cost, confidence, and logistics) by providing portable event infrastructure, coordinated volunteer support, community partnerships, and inclusive programming design. The result is a welcoming music environment that can be activated in a wide range of settings, from neighbourhood blocks to parks and plazas.

Pop-Up Stage & Sound Support

We’re building portable, reliable event infrastructure (PA, mics, stands, power planning, and setup systems) so we can host community music anywhere — without needing expensive rentals every time.

Community Jams

Relaxed jam sessions where beginners can join in, returning musicians can dust off their skills, and experienced players can help lead the room. Participation > perfection — always.

Local Artist Showcases

We create more stage time for local musicians through pop-up showcases and community lineups that are supportive, friendly, and built to grow the scene — not gatekeep it.

Access Fund -Low Cost Spots

Cost shouldn’t be the reason someone misses out. This fund helps keep events low-barrier and supports participation where needed.

Volunteer Event Crew

From setup to hospitality to stage support, volunteers are the heartbeat of Rock the Block. We make it easy to jump in, learn the ropes, and be part of something meaningful.

Community Collaborations

We team up with businesses, organizations, schools, and community groups to host events in spaces people already love — and to build a stronger, more connected local arts culture.

WHERE WE WORK.

We’re rooted in New Westminster — and built to pop up wherever community wants music.

You’ll find Rock the Block events in places like:

  • parks and waterfront spaces

  • plazas and public gathering spots

  • local businesses and community venues

  • neighbourhood blocks that are ready to come alive

If you’ve got a location in mind — a space that could handle a small pop-up stage or a community jam — we’d love to hear about it.
